Background of the Organization 

Poor Welfare organization (PWO) is a non-government development organization, which is working for socio-economic development if the underprivileged, distress, and poor people. Md. Hafizur Rahman, the founder of PWO has working in various local NGOs in different posts about 20 years. He noticed that most of the NGOs conducting development very traditionally and failed to innovate any alternative development approach for the distress people especially in rural and river basin area. In this context, Md. Hafizur Rahman and some other like-minded NGO worker, social activist and local elite people formed a different type of non-government development organization namely, “Poor welfare Organization (PWO)” in July 1998.

Objective:

v  To provide and organizational structure and mode of operation for member organization to constructively collaborate so that poor welfare organization (PWO) can make a meaningful contribution towards any development program in Bangladesh.

v  To develop linkage with different local aid providing and supporting organization.

v  To work in coordination with different go and NGOs in disaster management establishing women rights and reducing violence women.

v  To import human and skills development training to group members for human resource development, efficiency building and behavioral change.

v  To creating self-employment generation for group members through credit support and mobilizing local resources.

v  To import non-formal primary education and per-primary education to be unschooled and dropout child  of the slums and the program area for their growth and development.

v  To render clinical services to the mother’s and children of the slums and the program area to reduce maternal and children mortality and morbidity.

v  To extending hardware support of water and sanitation and environmental hygiene to the people of slums and the program area for improving their health status.

v  To undertake emergency relief and rehabilitation program during disaster period for restoring normal like situation of the affected people.

v  To disseminate information of socio-economic upliftment through printed. Non-printed and audio-visual media for mars mobilization.

v  To develop linkage with relevant government. National and international development agencies for wider support and cooperation.
